Elite / Pros – Phoenix Winter Nationals

Seems like business as usual in the Pro Elite categories at the season opener in Black Mountain over the weekend. In the men’s, AZ local and current World Champion Corben Sharrah took Friday night, with Chase Bicycles’ Joris Daudet taking it on Saturday. Fields and Andre also hit the podium over the weekend and a notable shout-out for new Rift/Rockstar/Tangent signing Corey Reid who made the mains both days.

For the ladies, Alise Willoughby took it both days riding for Full Tilt even though she is still on GW… Not sure how that one works but it’s all down to politics was the word in the pits.

Haro US Development Team’s Kamren Larsen made his Pro debut in Phoenix and came out swinging, winning A Pro both Friday an Saturday and Pro Open on Sunday.

With none of the top Elites showing up to race Sunday to race it does make you wonder why all the complaining regarding lack of prize money when they don’t stick around to race or hang out for their sponsors on Sunday. Only guy I saw in the pits Sunday was Nic Long taking pictures with the kids trackside; props to Nic.

All in all, Black Mountain didn’t disappoint. Great weather and good racing over the three days. Up next, Oldsmar this coming weekend for the Gator Nationals.
